BIMvision allows you to quickly select the entire structure, group or assembly to which a single entity belongs. There are a few ways to quickly select the bigger part of the project starting from pointing an element.
LET’S CHECK THEM OUT!
THE FIRST OPTION
The first method is to click on the one 3D entity of the assembly in the model and then right-click the mouse and select “Select group”.
See the screenshots below:
Select a bolt
After right-clicking, choose „Select group” from the menu
The whole group is already selected.
Now you can isolate it, hide it or use the selection in plugins
THE SECOND OPTION
The second method is to click on one 3D element of the assembly in the model (or structure) and then press the Backspace key on the keyboard. At that point, you will see that you have moved up in the IFC structure and now you select the whole assembly instead of one element of it. By clicking on the Backspace more times you will move further in the structure, selecting its higher levels.
Both of the methods depend on your model and its structure and they work properly if the elements are connected properly in the IFC structure.
The methods described above can also be used in various kinds of structures, not only construction assemblies.
*Another example: In the video below you can see both methods on different kinds of models. This will allow you to better understand and see how it works.
