* Construction Day – in Poland the day was celebrated in the times of the People’s Republic of Poland in order to express appreciation to the labor leaders who were building up the People’s Poland. Despite the propaganda overtones, it is impossible not to appreciate the pace with which Poland – symbolically represented by the capital – rose from the rubble after the Second World War. Formerly, the Day of Construction was, of course, an earlier fancy and celebration. Nowadays it is rather tradition, celebrated by the construction community and not as noisily as it used to be.
