SELECTION AREA
You may be familiar with this feature from AutoCAD or another CAD program. Draw a selection area from right to left or from left to right.
To draw a selection area: press and hold Ctrl, click the cursor in an empty space and, without releasing the mouse button, drag it to draw a selection rectangle. When you release the mouse button, you will see the selection in the model.
Note that the direction of drawing the selection area matters:
- When you draw a selection area from left to right, only those elements that are fully covered by the selection will be taken into selection.
- When you draw a selection area from right to left, all elements of which at least a part is covered by the selection will be included in the selection.
QUICK HIDING OF ELEMENTS
Have you selected a group of items and want to hide them quickly? You don’t have to go to the “OBJECTS” tab to “Hide Selected”. Just try pressing Delete twice.
When you select an element and click Delete once, it becomes transparent. When you click it a second time, it becomes hidden. You can also use this function on a group of elements.
NAVIGATING THROUGH THE IFC TREE STRUCTURE
When you select an element in the IFC model, you can click Backspace to move up in the hierarchical IFC tree structure.
In most cases of IFC models, it will therefore look like this: when you click Backspace once, you will go to a group of elements of a given type from the corresponding storey; when you click Backspace another time, you will quickly select the entire storey to which the element belongs; another time will allow you to select the entire building, and so on.
