New versions IDS Maker and IDS Checker

The IDS format is a breakthrough element in openBIM processes. It is IDS that allows you to save the conditions required in the IFC model, as well as automate its verification in terms of information content. Choose the IDS requirements file and benefit from IFC models that have what you need!

Here is the new IDS Maker – a free web solution for creating IDS files and IDS Checker – a BIMvision plugin that will check whether the opened IFC model complies with the requirements of the uploaded IDS!

The new version of IDS MAKER makes CREATING a correct IDS file even EASIER!

We have added a lot of improvements, tips and automation elements that will help you navigate the world of information requirements for IFC more efficiently.

RED BOUNDING BOXES

RED BOUNDING BOXES, i.e. the information “Attention! This place still requires your attention.”

Red bounding boxes will show you which fields are required and need to be filled in.

One look and you can see if there is anything else that needs to be specified (e.g. defining an IFC schema for the specification or entering required items for the selected facet).

HINTS

HINTS, i.e. “perhaps you want to enter one of the following values?”

The new IDS Maker will guide you by the hand in creating conditions! When you start creating requirements, just start typing values ​​and it will suggest standard possibilities for Property Sets, Properties, Attributes and other field names.

*In addition, when you enter any of the standard properties, the appropriate Datatype for it will be automatically entered

LIVE PREVIEW

LIVE PREVIEW i.e. the ability to view the Application and Requirements conditions simultaneously.

Thanks to the live preview, you can see a compilation of all the conditions from each specification. The record is legible and clear. So if you don’t want to make any changes, but just quickly review the records in your specifications, you can use the preview.

INTEGRATED VALIDATOR

INTEGRATED VALIDATOR i.e. the answer to the question “Is my IDS file correct?”

After going to the XML section, you will see if there are any errors in your IDS file. If there are any, you will receive a warning. Perhaps you forgot to fill in one of the red fields or entered an incorrect entry? – you will certainly notice it – the integrated validator recommended by buildingSMART will check your IDS.

„HELP” FILE

“HELP” FILE, your user manual, the answer to the question, “But how do I get started and how do I get around here?”

In the upper right corner, right next to the timer and flag you will find the More > Help section, click here. You will see a help file that will introduce you to the world of IDS.

The new version of IDS CHECKER means more efficient cooperation and more thorough checks

We’ve added the ability to export to BCF (in two ways!), we’ve given you control over datatype verification, and we’ve also enabled model verification against multiple IDS files at once!

EXPORT TO IFC COMMENTS/BCF

EXPORT TO IFC COMMENTS/BCF, i.e. facilitating communication and collaboration in OpenBIM

Thanks to the cooperation with the IFC Comments/BCF plugin, you can easily export the marking of incorrect elements in the model along with information about irregularities. The BCF file with comments and marked incorrect elements from the IFC model can be opened in various software supporting this data exchange format in OpenBIM! *Note that the use of the IFC Comments/BCF functionality is available to owners of this plugin

DATATYPE

DATATYPE – an in-depth review of the full scope of information according to your preferences

The new version of IDS Checker supports full verification of the correctness of the defined Datatype (*the data type is necessary to enter in IDS when specifying requirements for the value of a property). However, if in your case it is crucial to verify whether the property has a specific name and whether the value is in the form or range you expect, and you do not want to focus on compliance with the “Datatype” entered in IDS at the moment, you can use the function that allows you to ignore errors consisting in discrepancies between the required and existing Datatype.

With changes to the Datatype scope, you can thoroughly verify compliance in this area, or you can ignore this type of requirement to look for other types of errors. (The ability to filter for errors in the Datatype scope also allows you to quickly investigate the extent of these types of deviations).

SIMULTANEOUS VERIFICATION OF MULTIPLE IDS

SIMULTANEOUS VERIFICATION OF MULTIPLE IDS files, i.e. the ability to check multiple IDS files simultaneously.

IDS Checker can now verify your IFC model not with one IDS file, but with many at once!

So if you have IDS dedicated to different scopes of information, perhaps also of different authorship, you can load them all into one plugin window. This way, verification will be performed on all of them at once.

STAY TUNED – A new version of IDS Maker is being prepared, with the option of, among other things, re-uploading an IDS file for modification, and for users with a BIMvision subscription, the option to log in and store created IDS files in the cloud, as well as an even better IDS Checker 😉
