Search and Select allows you to quickly search and group elements in an IFC model based on element properties and data, or to create groups by manually adding elements (selecting on the model). You can efficiently extract objects of interest by creating groups with meaningful names, give them colours and make the analysis and presentation of the data not only fast but also clear.

To create a simple sample group in Search and Select, you can use the ‘Custom selector’ for example. Define a condition or conditions; you can also give them colours. Once the group is added, you can use it from the main plugin window. Select the group and ‘Select matching’ elements. You can also colour or isolate them.
Note also the ‘Automatic preview’. This option works according to your settings, so first decide how you want it to work. In the drop-down list of the button, select those functions you want to be performed on the selected elements/groups when the button is active. Once you have set the operation of this automatic button, you will be able to easily switch the quick preview on or off.
Search and Select is a tool created for all those who work on large IFC models and want to save time when working on an IFC model. Well-prepared groups prepared by one person can help the entire team work more efficiently.
Thanks to the ability of coloring and quick filtering objects, groups can be stored with particular types of construction elements, with selected installations or with joinery of a specific type.
The Search and Select plugin saves all your groups, selectors and colours in a BVF project file. You can save the plugin data as a separate file (.selectors) to be reloaded into the IFC model, or save it together with the model as a .bvf file from the main program interface.
