BIMvision version 3.1.1 introduces new features and improvements. One of the changes is the expansion of the navigation grid functionality. This functionality is particularly useful for large models, such as those related to infrastructure. Previously, double-clicking on a grid field allowed for quick centering and zooming of the camera to a specified location, and this behavior remains unchanged. However, a dynamic system origin has been added, which changes its position when selecting a grid field (single-click). This allows us to easily change the camera’s reference point using the navigation grid plane.
The ability to enter section planes relative to a 3D curve has been added.
The functionality of measurement methods has also been expanded. Measuring lengths by selecting points in the model (POINT-POINT) allows for the creation of measurement sequences within the model. For measuring arbitrary angles in the model, we can now use the “multiple selection” option. This allows for the simultaneous display of values for multiple angles.
The “Perpendicular” option allows for the rapid and precise rotation of the camera view so that it is perpendicular to a specified plane in the model.
Advanced options have added the ability to display element properties for the type of product they refer to. This way, additional properties are no longer located “under the element” in the product’s IFC structure tree, but are displayed directly within it (all properties are at the same level of the geometric element).
Model display optimization options have been introduced to speed up navigation and performance. One option hides the display of objects that are not visible to the camera (out of view), while the other hides small elements when you’re far away from them. These two options prevent all geometric elements from being rendered, resulting in faster program performance. If enabled (in the advanced options), you’ll find information about the current hiding status in the lower status bar (a yellow exclamation point).
The object selection filter option allows you to select elements according to the entered settings. Filters narrow the range of possible selections (e.g., to a specific type or several types), but they also allow you to work at different depth levels. This way, with a single click, you can work on specific element types within the context of the entire project or a subset, such as a story. Setting the type and depth level works in conjunction. If you want to work at the level of individual (selected) products, you should stay at depth level 0.
